Service partner plan terms & conditions
  • 1. Coverage – The Universe Service Partner Plan (SPP) is an agreement between you, the customer, and Universe Home Services. The SPP is available in Nassau County and most of Suffolk County. Benefits are applicable to each plan chosen.
    • For HEATING, COOLING and HOT WATER (HVAC), the SPP provides service and maintenance on most brands, for each of the following residential units, as selected on the initial enrollment form, a) gas fired steam boiler, hot water boiler, boiler with indirect hot water heater, hot air furnace, or combi/wall hung boiler house heating equipment, b) electric or gas fired tank or tankless hot water heaters, c) air-source heat pumps (not geothermal), d) central air conditioning equipment, e) mini-split units, f) thermostats that control units covered under the SPP. All equipment must have been installed according to the manufacturer’s installation recommendations and national and local codes. All equipment is subject to inspection prior to Universe Home Services’ acceptance of any SPP. One annual maintenance visit, per membership year, will be provided for all HVAC equipment covered under the SPP. Members will receive a reduced dispatch fee of $89 (regularly $125), a 15% discount on HVAC equipment repairs for covered units.
    • For PLUMBING, the SPP provides a whole house plumbing safety inspection once per membership year, a reduced dispatch fee of $89 (regularly $125), a 15% discount on plumbing repairs and installations.
    • For ELECTRIC, the SPP provides a whole house electrical safety inspection once per membership year, a reduced dispatch fee of $89 (regularly $125), a 15% discount on electrical repairs and installations.
    • For all plans, the 15% discount cannot be combined with any other discount, offer, or coupon unless specified.
  • 2. When Coverage Begins – Coverage begins with the customer’s agreement to terms, accompanied by a signed SPP enrollment form, and process of payment. The agreement will be in effect for a period of one year from the date of acceptance and will automatically renew annually unless membership is cancelled.
  • 3. Payment – SPPs are yearly plans paid annually or in monthly installments. Upon sign-up the customer will provide a payment method, such as a credit card, debit card, or ACH. The payment information is stored securely. For monthly members, Universe Home Services will charge the monthly membership amount to the payment method on file. Upon automatic renewal, the same payment method will be charged monthly for the next 12-month term. Customers opting to pay annually will be automatically renewed and charged the yearly amount to the payment method on file, upon the membership anniversary date. The SPP is a yearly commitment and not a month-to-month subscription. Universe Home Services has the right to change prices and terms of the agreement at the time of renewal. The customer will receive notice of any changes up to 60 days in advance.
  • 4. How To Obtain Service – Service scheduling can be obtained by calling 516-781-6565, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
    • For HEATING, COOLING and HOT WATER (HVAC) – Emergency service for no heat or no hot water complaints will be available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, from October 1st through April 30th, and from 7am-10pm from May 1st through September 30th, and holidays. All non-emergency, maintenance, or air conditioning calls will be scheduled according to our soonest availability during regular business hours.
    • For PLUMBING – Plumbing emergency services are available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. All non-emergency calls will be scheduled according to our soonest availability during regular business hours.
    • For ELECTRIC – All Electric service calls will be scheduled according to our soonest availability during regular business hours.
  • 5. Service Response Policy – Universe Home Services will make every reasonable attempt to provide prompt same-day (within 24 hours) service to our customers for urgent no heat, no hot water, emergency plumbing, and severe leaking situations. Universe Home Services is not responsible for delays beyond our control, such as labor problems, severe weather conditions, natural disasters and the like. Safe access, as determined by Universe Home Services, must be provided by the customer for the service to be rendered.
  • 6. Two-Year Warranty – Universe Home Services offers a limited warranty on all parts for mechanical or workmanship defects for one year from the installation date. SPP members receive the benefit of a two-year limited warranty for covered items when a part is replaced, provided that SPP coverage was continued without lapse for the two-year duration. Universe Home Services will, at our discretion, repair or replace any part proven to be defective under normal usage. Damage caused by the homeowner, neglect, environment, flooding, or any natural disaster will not be covered by any warranty. Universe Home Services is not responsible for any collateral damage caused by parts, covered equipment, improper operation, or failure of any covered equipment. This warranty does not apply and/or does not provide for claims of personal injury, attorneys fees, or other such consequential damages. Universe Home Services will not be responsible for expenses accrued due to unavailability of parts or failure of equipment. Any warranty implied or otherwise is to the customer, location and equipment listed on the SPP agreement.
  • 7. Loyalty Credit – Universe Home Services awards a $100 credit per year ($1,000 maximum) for continuous membership of one or more SPPs, toward the purchase of a new HVAC system. New systems include combi boilers, boilers, furnaces, heat pumps and mini-split/ductless units. There must be no lapse in coverage to accrue Loyalty Credits. Credits can be combined with other offers.
  • 8a. Customer Option to Cancel – A customer may request to cancel an SPP within 30 days of activation if no services were rendered. Cancellation requests can be made in writing and mailed to Universe Home Services, 260 Smith Street, Farmingdale, NY 11735, or by calling 516-781-6565 and requesting to speak to the Membership Department. An SPP membership is a commitment to purchase one year of coverage; any other request for cancellation must be reviewed by the Membership Department.
  • 8b. Provider Option to Cancel – Universe Home Services has the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel any SPP in the event Universe Home Services determines the covered equipment becomes unserviceable due to factors of age, environment, unavailable parts, unsafe working conditions, abuse or neglect of equipment, or failure to make payments according to the SPP Agreement. SPP Agreements may be cancelled by Universe Home Services without notice of non-payment, failure of the customer to follow the professional advice of Universe Home Services or unsafe working conditions.
  • 9. Financial Commitment – The obligations of Universe Home Services under this service contract are backed by the full faith and credit of Universe Home Services.
  • 10. Limited Liability – Universe Home Services shall not be liable for any consequential or incidental damages of any nature, such as customer’s loss of use of its residence, or the cost of replacement shelter, heat or water, claims of personal injury, and/or attorney’s fees. Universe Home Services’ maximum liability under this agreement shall not exceed the annual amount paid by the customer to Universe Home Services.
  • 11. Circumstances Beyond Our Control – Universe Home Services is not responsible for any delays on account of or due to labor problems, severe weather conditions, natural disasters, acts of war, acts of government, or any other circumstance or condition beyond our reasonable control.
  • 12. Miscellaneous Items – This SPP Agreement can be modified only by a written agreement signed by both the customer and Universe Home Services. The SPP is not transferable to a new location nor new homeowner. The laws of the State of New York shall govern the terms and conditions of this agreement. Any action brought under the SPP shall begin in the appropriate court in Nassau County, New York. If any provision in this agreement is deemed unenforceable or invalid, it will not affect or void the remainder of the SPP Agreement.
